Zero Minute Instant Pot - Fresh Veg In a Hurry

Writer's picture: Ed StoneEd Stone

If you have an Instant Pot make sure to keep loads of frozen broccoli, cauliflower, or really anything else you like on hand. In under 10 minutes, you can have perfectly steamed veggies to use as-is or in your favorite stovetop stir-fry.

This is foolproof easy steaming, get your your Instant Pot and give this a try for your next creation.

Here's how

Put 1 cup of water in the bottom of your Instant Pot and add a steel or silicone strainer to keep the veggies out of the water. Set for high pressure and zero minutes, som machines will require a minute, simply stop once the 1 minute starts. As soon as we are up to pressure, either reading zero or one, just dump all the steam, that's it.

Obviously, we are not pressure cooking, but rather using the steam that the Instant Pot creates to steam the veggies.

This is a real time-saver that I use so I don't have to tend the veggies while they cook and I can use my time prepping other parts of the meal. I use this a sides creator when I am super busy and want to boost the veggie content of a meal. Try tossing broccoli with some sesame oil and soy sauce, it's super yummy! Combine with your favorite protein and you are done.
